Analog Logo Analog C:Amie Edition Basic Config File Generator

[ Home | Download | Changelog | Guides ]

This page is designed to help you automate the creation of an Analog C:Amie Edition configuration file for your web site log analysis.

What this scriptlet does

  • Provides you with a basic Analog C:Amie Edition Config File without having to edit the sample config
  • Enables all reports and charts
  • Sets up default dynamic scripting page patterns
  • Filters images out of the request report (prioritising pages and downloads)
  • Sets that 304 errors (not modified) will be parsed as a successful load, rather than an error
  • Provides a basic and updated robot and search engine identification list
  • Provides a comprehensive list of identifiable file types
  • Removes internal traffic from the referral reports, referrals will just list referrals from external to your site

What it doesn't do

  • Configure Report Magic
  • Configure all possible Analog configuration options
  • Save or transmit any information that you type in (it all happens in your browser)

Configure Your Site

To begin, provide some basic details on your site

Name of your site

e.g. Laurence's Discount Software Emporium

Root URL

http:// /

e.g. www.mydomian.com (do not include the home page file name i.e. www.mydomain.com/index.html)

Page Types

If your web site uses static or dynamic content for page documents, select the extension type from the list below. If in doubt, select all of them

Log File Path

What is the path to your log files, this can be a Windows or POSIX fully qualified path or path relative to the Analog executable e.g. c:\logs\, /home/logs/ or leave blank for "in the same folder as analog".

Most web servers create logs in a text file format with a .log extension, the config generator will assume that log files ending .log will be found at this path.

Output Type

If you plan to use Report Magic to re-process the Analog output select 'Report Magic'. If you wish to use Analog's native report format choose either 'HTML' or 'XHTML'. If you wish to generate statistics into XML choose 'XML'.

Output Path

Where do you want Analog to save the output report / statistics file? e.g. c:\logs\report\ or /home/logs/report/.

If you selected Report Magic as the output format the output statistics file will be saved as report.dat, report.xml as XML and index.html as HTML or XHTML

What should I do with this?

You can either:

  1. Save the file an "analog.cfg" in the same folder as the analog executive file (analog.exe on Windows)

  1. Save the file where required (naming it what you want) and run the configuration file via a command line shortcut with the following switches:
    <path to analog>\analog.exe -G +g<path to config file>my_config.cfg
    c:\stats\analog.exe -G +gz:\configurations\my_config.cfg

Note: There is no space between +g and z:\ in the above example for a reason.
